Great Lost Post

somehow, my last post seems to have vanished into the ether and not made it to the blog. to condense it a bit: i was basically giving the schedule for the next few weeks. this week will be my version of "nuggets" british invasion style. you'll be surprised how a lot of this music later mutated into punk and garage band music. there was a lot of worthless music created in britain between 1961 and 1967, but there was a lot of cool, ahead of it's time sounds being made that didn't necessarily make it to the radio, especially american radio. so, this sunday will be my version of radio caroline, so to speak. coming up afterwards, on the 19th, i'll do the special program on rare and unreleased tracks by local and regional artists. got some real good stuff including the first recorded music by the experimental instrument orchestra, some unrleased tracks by dwight frizzell and BCR, as well as other goodies from arthur dodge, forrest whitlow, the royal nonesuch, and even something from the fabulous flippers. the sunday after thanksgiving will be an improv show with lonesome cowboy bill. these are the kinds of shows we sometimes pull off on kjhk in lawrence, but this one will be condensed to two hours. i have no idea what it will sound like and neither does he at this point, but we'll all find out on the 26th, won't we? other than that, i'll certainly do a beatles rarities show on december 17th with sir edward chavez and caroline and i will do a special christmas show on christmas eve. hopefully next year, more live performances and more special shows.
